Finding and photographing distinctive, colorful and interesting doors and facades takes up a lot of my time on my trips around the world. They are so inviting, I have all I can do to not knock on the doors and ask to be let in for a look. I've been fortunate to be invited inside some homes in Puebla, where I was living, on occasion when photographing with my young son by my side. He seemed to be my ticket to entrance.
The doors and facades in Cusco were certainly colorful, and while photographing this door (I had already snapped a couple of images) this lady strode by with her white hat and red sweater in front of my blue door, making the image magical.
