To capture the first rays of the rising sun in Owls Head, Maine, I got up at 4 am. Armed with my trusty tripod and DSLR, I scoped out the vantage points and then stood back and patiently waited for the magnificence to begin. The home of my friend's mother fronted on Owls Head Bay, looking out towards Penobscot Bay. Two trees on either side of the stairs leading down to the beach became the perfect frame for the rising sun.
During this shoot, I was also gifted with a glorious rainbow that can be seen in the two photographs below.
