The Treasury at Night, Petra, Jordan

The Treasury at Night, Petra, Jordan

When visiting the site of Petra, in Jordan, you can attend a nighttime show in the plaza in front of the The Treasury.  Fifteen hundred paper lanterns illuminate the .75-mile cobblestoned length of the Siq, and candles on the plaza ground throw flickering shadows onto the facade while a Bedouin musician plays a pipe (a sort of flute). Visitors, sitting on the ground or on the base of The Treasury are then served hot tea while listening to a story told by a local guide.

Sitting on the base of The Treasury, facing the plaza towards the Siq, I looked upward and noticed the glorious starlit sky forming the backdrop for the flame red, candlelit facade and sandstone cliff.
