During my visit to Tanzania, our tour guides took us on two safaris daily in various national parks. Being there at the beginning of the rainy season, we experienced near daily downpours that lasted no more than 15 minutes or so, but often leaving us sliding 360 degrees on muddy rutted roads throwing up mud on all the windows of our Toyota land cruiser. Before the downpours the sky quickly darkened as seen in the background of this photograph, announcing an impending deluge. The sun highlighting the spots of this mother giraffe and her baby, the dirt road and the acacia trees makes a stark and quite dramatic counterpoint to the almost blackened sky beyond. While all the other members of the tour were looking to the right of this road at a group of giraffes, I stood up and looked out the rooftop window, balanced my camera on a sand-bag and got this adorable image of love on the Serengeti.
