Maasai Woman in Profile with Necklace

This is one of the women who participated in the dancing that entertained my tour group during a visit to her village. It is easy to see from this image the ear piercing and the earlobe stretching that is common among many African tribes. This woman has only a long earring dangling from her cartilage piercing through the hole in the earlobe. It is not uncommon to see long lengths of beads hanging through the earlobes, as well.

I have noticed several young men in New York over the last few years sporting ear plugs in their stretched earlobes.
