Father and Three Daughters, Cairo, Egypt

Father and Three Daughters, Cairo, Egypt

I always had my camera set on the open window by my seat, the last row in the small tourist van my tour group used to get from place to place. This day, driving around the streets of Cairo, I saw this scene that was both moving and strangely contrasting, with several focal points. The tires and rims piled up on the ground and stacked on a ledge above the store opening to one side of the family grouping, and the clothes hanging on a line and their shadows to the other side together with that horizontal band of red paint have the viewer looking everywhere at once. Packed with information, I see this photograph as a scene of simple daily life that could be in any country of the world.
